Release of The Office of the Seniors Advocate's 2016/17 Long Term Care Resident and Family Survey Raw Data

About this Webinar:

The BC Office of the Seniors Advocate and the BC Office of Patient-Centred Measurement are excited to announce that we will host a virtual meeting on July 15th from 0900 to noon to introduce analysts and researchers to the BC Office of the Seniors Advocates' 2016/17 Long Term Care survey data. Isobel Mackenzie, BC's Seniors Advocate, will open the meeting with an overview of her vision for commissioning this large scale, provincially coordinated survey of every resident and a matched sample of his or her family/most frequent visitor in every LTC home with publicly funded beds (292 care homes) in British Columbia. Benedito Chou, Senior Analyst, BC Office of Patient-Centred Measurement, will provide an overview of metaspace (the new Wiki) and of the metadata he has developed to assist analysts and researchers to understand and use this rich dataset. Ben will also provide a live demo querying the data. In addition, four examples, showcasing analyses conducted in BC using the OSA's LTC data, will be presented by our speakers - Dr. Lara Russell, Dr. Rozanne Wilson, Mary DeLong, Rob Cowan-Douglas. These analyses were made possible in part through support provided by Richard Sawatzky, Canada Research Chair in Person-Centred Outcomes at Trinity Western University and the BC Office of Patient-Centred Measurement. The BC SUPPORT Unit provided the funding for the Office of Patient-Centred Measurement and the BC Ministry of Health to make PREMs and PROMs data available to researchers and analysts via their central data warehouse, Healthideas, and PopDataBC through the Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR). We look forward to the additional analyses that will be prompted by the availability of this data and the supporting materials for researchers and analysts.
